case study on prejudice and discrimination.

this is a case study that i'm working on. I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion on this one?

Rania has just been appointed as a bilingual assistant in Year 4 to work with Tariq, who speaks English as an additional language and has a speech and language disorder. Tariq is lacking in confidence as a result of his needs, but Rania is aware that she must not be at his side too much, as this will prevent him from developing his independence and making friends. On the playground one morning she notices that Tariq is trying hard to join in, but overhears a group of children making fun of him and speaking to him with a strong accent when he has asked if he can join in with their game of basketball.

- Should Rania intervence on this occasion?
- What could she say to the group?
- How can she balance the development of Tariq's independence while ensuring that he does not become reliant on her?

and this's another case.

Mike is working in an inner-city junior school which has very few children who are from white British backgrounds. Although the school has an inclusive policy and has a “no tolerance” view on any form of discrimination, Mike has sometimes had to deal with some incidents of bullying and racial discrimination on the playground. On this occasion, a white child who is new to the school has come up to him and told him that a girl has said to her that she cannot play with them because she won’t understand their game as she is white.

-what should Mike do?
-what should he say to the group of girls?
-should he follow up the incident in any way?
