Start by looking at your setting's policies and procedures and this should help you to answer it. If you had no outdoor area - you wouldn't have to worry about deadly nightshade (but that might crop up if you went on an outing in wooded areas) but wherever you are you may use socker covers - why? - so young children don't poke their fingers in them and electrocute themselves.
If you had an outdoor sandpit and it was uncovered, there may be (even though very slight if your premises are locked) that animal faeces could be found (fox) or discarded needles thrown into etc - so what do you do?
If this applies to your setting, this will be in you settings policies and procedures on how you go about it and who does it - perhaps it's the first person who arrives or you all have specific duties.
Ask your manager and read up your policies.
