general responsibility.........by carrying out your policies by following the correct procedures and keeping records i.e. on the example I gave you about a fire drill, you may record if there were any obstacles or obstructions or delay in the practice?

If you recorded that your fire drill was twice as long as usual, you'd look into why? - after all speed is of the essence for evacuating everyone safely. It could be that new staff were not familiar with the drill and you need to do them more frequently until they do, or that your exit was blocked - you used the fire exit - so why was it blocked and what are you going to do about it?

How do you inform everyone - at a meeting, so everyone knows what's going on, a memo and/or a new poster on the staff notice board with clear intsrtuctions of everyone's required duties when carrying one out i.e. who gathers the children, who checks the building, who picks up the mobile phone/register etc
