Hi there

Trying to find info on mood descriptors associated with play. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Very frustrated!

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Mood descriptors are words that sum up how someone appears to be feeling emotionally where modes of behaviour descibes actions.

Moods ..
Happy - smiling and co-operating with each other
Independent - child is self sifficient and free, happily working alone or leading play
Confident - children are self-assured and positive in their actions often taking the lead
Altruistic - children are unselfish and self-sacrificing when playing with other children allowing others to take control
Trusting - children have faith in others and are happy to be led by other childen following direction without question
Balanced - children are stable and even-handed, taking turns and being aware of others needs
Active or immersed - children are engrossed and absorbed in play, making no demands on staff or other children
At ease - children will get on with whatever they are doing with minimal intervention the play is simple and straightforward and generally undemanding.

Behavioural modes associated with play unit 318 Plan for and support self-directed play
• Personally directed
• Intrinsically motivated
• In secure context
• Spontaneous
• Goalless
• Where the content and intent is under the control of the children and young people
