Hiya, I'm hoping others can help with their ideas but am thinking maybe questions such as:
CCLD 412 Evaluate and co-ordinate the environment for children and families
Do you think our setting is an inviting one?
Do you feel comfortable/welcome when visiting
Are you able to speak to someone whenever the need arises
Is there enough privacy provided for you to discuss matters openly.
-- all helps monitor & evaluate peoples first thoughts on the setting / environment, provision for confidentiality and the building /environment layout - where rooms are
Do you know/would like to know more about the settings policies and procedures -
with knowledge that these are already given out/accessible through reasons of compliance/regulation.
Are you interested in seeing the risk assessment format or taking part in how we perform a risk assessment
Do you know how we decide on the layout of the setting
Would you have an alternative suggestion or like to see something changed
-- Helps parents take an active role in developing the environment and again helps monitor thoughts on provision - where changes may be made and can reinforce the reasons of where things are positioned.
What toys and other resources would you like to see in our group
Which resource or toy does your child like, or mention the most
Do you feel we address cultural issues through our resources
Role play - dressing up - books - cooking & food - areas of the room
Would you feel comfortable giving us details of new or known resources that you feel the children would enjoy in the setting.
-- Helps identify resources that are used and valued. Gives parents the opportunity to pass on feedback/share suggestions on developing resources and for Children to access cultural resources.
For fun ...
If you could select one item of furniture from our playroom which would it be and why .....
If you could suggest moving an item of furniture in our setting which would it be - why and what would you do with it ....
If you could purchase a piece of furniture for our setting what would it be, where would it go and what would it be used for ..
Do you feel our setting is an inclusive one
Does it provide access for disability and other needs.
Do you have any problem accessing the building or a room
How do you think we can improve our setting?
-- Helps look more directly at thoughts on access, provision for aids - disability, mobility, tools, equipment, settings approach and enviromental setup.
Is security satisfactory
Do you and your family feel safe entering / remaining in our setting
What security measures have you been familiar with in the past
How well did this system/product work
Do you know about our setting's fire drills
Would you like to take part in a drill
-- Helps look at security - placement, systems, protection, signage - position, successful promotion/advertisement, Health & Safety. Parents enthusiasm for involvement and finding out about the environment.
Quality of access for children could ask ..
Does your Child or Children have any needs that we have /have not been able to provide for.
How can we provide for these needs / improve provision.
What professionals have you been able to talk to.
Have you been given any advice that may also help us
Are there any specific areas of our setting that you feel can be improved.
fixture - fitting - portable - resource
What aids could we look to provide ..
Funding, grants, building improvements ..
Other areas may include toilets, hallway, hooks & coat storage, hand dryers, sinks, changing areas, sun cream, medication, storage facilities..
Depending how much information you wanted to collect, a series of questionnaires/programme
could be developed to address all areas of the environment.
Parent rota questionnaire - use parents experience of the area/rota & duties to see if anything needs changing ..
New resource questionnaire
New building work questionnaire
Fundraising questionnaire
Floor plan questionnaire
Health & Safety
Medical
