Go on your EYFS disc (or view on-line) and look at "Enabling Enironments". There is loads of information there. Just click away!!!

Also reflect on what works really well in your setting and things you have improved to make your environment better

Hope that helps

available space - children need room 2 move around freely without having the risk of injuring themselves or others. children neeed 2 av their own independence.

the amount of children in the setting
wat activities are goin 2 b out on the day-- hw much space is needed for tht activity

hope this gives u some idea

what needs to be in an environment for babies and under 3's?

first think what a baby needs and then add it to the environment

food-eating area (high chairs, low tables etc)
sleep/rest-cots? mats? quiet area?
stimulation-(here think about development areas eg physical-play gym, space, balls etc language-books/reading area and about play-indoor outdoor)
changing/washing/toileting-nappy area
attention
hygiene/safe

be sure to go into detail about any equipment-what kind of books? soft or hard

and then you have to say how each thing you need in the environment supports the childs development/allows you to care holisticly for them, having physical toys and activities such as a baby gym, rattles, shakers help the children develop their hand eye co ordination, movement, fine and gross motor skills.

also last but not least dont forget theorists such as maria montesori who believes in play and everything set out at a childs level, regulations such as good lighting, temp etc-these will make it a positive environment which children/babies will feel comfortable in and so be able to work better in.

hope this helps
