General question Organising duty rotas ?

How do you manage organising work rotas ?

Have you managed to put in place strategies to help unexpected changes / requests for time off or do you have the facility to delegate the job of organisation ?

If you have any tips for others please post ..

we do the rotas in collaboration.. all staff have requests and we work around them...

ratio are usually such that if one is off ill then we are still legal.. but usually we find staff contact someone they know is not in and arrange for cover .. if they want a day off or a change in shift they have to arrange it themselves.. and find suitable cover..

Suppose this works with us as all are level 3 so all can cover for each other.. no need to worry about sufficient trained staff!

Currently due to a member of staff being off on long term sick i have everything crossed that no one else phones in sick as would be totally stuffed! would have to have agency staff which would cost a bomb!
