Lightbulb Mad Hatters Day now a Week !

MAD HATTERS WEEK !!

Please see the main website for details of when this campaign is held: Debra.org.uk

It has been organised for the month of May 2006 & June 07 .. but can't find any 2008 details

If you're taking part or arranging events in support of this cause ... this year Mad Hatters Day has been extended to a whole week of fun !!

There are LOTS of added ideas & suggestions on their websaite this year for getting involved & holding your own 'Silly Hat' events ~ MAD HATTERS Week

***********************************************
ABOUT debRa
(Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association)

This awareness campaign is organised by debRA an organisation dealing with an inherited genetic disorder where the slightest knock or rub can cause the skin to painfully blister.

If anyone wants to become involved in this fundraiser please contact JanSandersATdebra.org

Visit the the Official debra.org.uk website to find out much more.

Please read our FUNDRAISING Guidelines here. if supporting debRA or any Charity campaign.

Hats are a great topic in general to cover.

We've listed a few suggestions that you can use to demonstrate profession, use and the function a hat has plus ...nobody should miss out on an opportunity to dress up !!

Topics that 'Mad Hatter's day' can fall under include :- Ourselves, People Who Help Us, Health, Clothes, Materials, Weather, Countries.

CRAFT & ACTIVITY IDEAS
Magical Mammoth has a Magician's hat template to colour or collage.
Using a big Top hat - let the children play magic tricks.. have streams of hankies/cloths tied together at a corner and allow them to pull out the reams.
Collage hats - looking at the materials used to make hats and what can be used to dress up/decorate a hat.
Make hats :- Upside down yoghurt pots can make top hats,
Paper Easter Bonnets
Paper plates, with a decoration on the top of the plate. Fasten a length of ribbon on each side of the plate rim and tie under the chin.
Discuss types of hat and who wears them.

His aim is to supply hats to those suffering hair loss from many medical reasons.

I was amazed at the work he's doing and wondered if anyone knows of a similar organisation based in the UK ?

A link from Anthony's site is Headhuggers.org another great site with some brilliant knitting, crochet and sewing patterns for hats on - again their worthy work is in helping distribute hats to those suffering hair loss.
