Hi, late to this sorry. If it still helps there is a list of notifiable diseases on page 74 of this EYE handbook. Many are extremely rare.

Your setting will also have a list so if possible ask them what they are and for a copy of the reporting procedure so you can see who and how they inform local and national authorities.
  • Acute encephalitis
  • Acute infectious hepatitis
  • Acute meningitis
  • Acute poliomyelitis
  • Anthrax
  • Botulism
  • Brucelliosis
  • Cholera
  • Diptheria
  • Enteric fever (typohoid or paratyphoid fever)
  • Food poisoning
  • Haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS)
  • Infectious bloddy diarrhoea
  • Invasive group A steptococooal disease
  • Legionnair's disease
  • Leprosy
  • Malaria
  • Measles
  • Meningococcal septicaemia
  • Mumps
  • Plague
  • Rabies
  • Rubella
  • SARS
  • Scarlet fever
  • Smallpox
  • Tetanus
  • Tuberculosis
  • Typhus
  • Viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF)
  • Whooping cough
  • Yellow fever
AC3.2 The process for reporting notifiable diseases (p. 75 EYE)

When a child hasd a notifiable disease, their family GP will fill in a form that will be sent to the local health protection team. For early years settings, there is a requirement that, if children have a serious illness, the early years setting must inform Ofsted within 14 days. This is usually the responsibility of the manager or, if the manager is not available, the deputy. In addition, the early years setting is also required to get into contact with their local health protection unit. This can be done by calling the health protection team directly.

Best wishes xx
