General question Help Rights and choices

Has anyone got a case study relating to dilemmas a practitioner could be faced with in relation to the rights and choices of children and health and safety requirements. Many thanks

Hi, children have the right to play and to express themselves freely and you have a duty of care to keep children safe and healthy. Can you think of situations in your setting where conflicts arise because of children's rights and the setting's routine, expected and unexpected events?
  • Children are interested in taking part in a foot painting activity but a parent has let the setting know that their child has a fungal foot infection and prefer that they do not take part.
  • It's lunch time and children know this means a change to they're doing but tell you they want to continue playing and aren't hungry.
  • A box of toys is stored on a high shelf above a chest of drawers and children ask if they can get it down.
  • A child asks to have the same drink as everyone else however you know they have an allergy to this drink.
  • A child tells you they are watching tv/dvds at home that you understand are rated as suitable for adults.
Hth xx
