Help SOS Promote Children and Young People's Positive Behaviour

Hi,

I am a bit baffled to be honest. I am currently working through my Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools and think i am over analysing a question.

Describe how you support CYP to review their behaviour and its impact on others, themselves and their environment. Include how you support CYP to identify and agree behaviour targets.

I have made a couple of notes along the lines of:
talking to them about what triggers them, how it makes them and others feel,
what are they going to do to ease the situation/consequences,
involve them in disciplinary actions - what punishment do you think is acceptable
we agreed that you would do this task and you haven't, why?

I have run out of thoughts and am now drawing a completing blank, any help would be gratefully received at this point. Thank you in advance.

Steph

Hi, welcome to silkysteps, looks good :)

The only add I can see would be how you'd take back information that a child's shared with you to colleagues/senior management. eg. where a child's identified that a trigger is a lack of balls during playtime how you'd help the child or children secure more, retrive lost ones, set up/encourage duplicate game play areas. This helps empower them and enables problem solving solutions to be found for times that might otherwise involve un/intentionally initiating conflict or if they're challenged by others.

Best wishes xx

The ABC approach to behaviour is a good way to examine causes, social & environmental triggers and can highlight where provision needs to improve :) - promoting positive behaviour on education.gov.uk
