General question recommended study books for CYPW level 2

Hi all, after giving some thought to my course choice I am now considering starting at level 2 rather than 3 and was wondering if anyone can recommend the best books for this level 2 qualification, either new or old.
Thanks x

excellent idea!!! you are making a good choice and will have a far better knowledge and depth than those who leap over. good for you. there are several textbooks for level 2 my personal favourite is the cache one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1...SIN=1444135465

you also need a good grasp of development and this is the best cd book around
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1...SIN=1444102842

but if you are short on development knowledge you need to get that first so a basic child development book like the meggit one is excellent you should invest in it!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0...SIN=0435078801

download the EYFS and read it through and READ READ READ it is the only way to learn. read papers on the web like the guardian and the times looking for education and society issues.

many people seem to think that having the certificate makes them a practitioner. it doesn't in any way! building up your knowledge will make you an asset to a setting and most importantly the children good luck!

Default thanks

Hi tutu, I do feel better with the idea of starting at level 2, I am just hoping they will agree to me doing it and I cant contact them till next week because of the holidays and they are expecting me to enrol on the level 3 in two weeks time and also the level 3 is a work based course, so I am crossing everything now hoping thatthe the level 2 will also be work based. would you happen to know what the cost of the 2 is? I know the 3 is £800 and is 12 months long and the level 2 is 6 months long so wondering how the cost will differ.

Hi Tutu, great news I can go onto level 2, am so relieved! I have had a look at the books you recommended and have added the cost, but unfortunatley cant afford to buy them all as I have been told to get the cypw by penny tassoni also ( so skint after the chritmas haha) and have to fund my course, so out of the books you recommended which one would you say is the best to go along with the Penny Tassoni level 2 one is? Thanks so much for your help and advise, really appreciated x
