great reply xx the CE mark is the minimal safety requirement for all products that are sold in the EU. If it doesn't carry the ce mark it isn't suitable.
The Kitemark is owned by BSI making it an available choice for manufacturers to additionally test/mark their products. BSI are a
notified body for the CE mark -
product services ie. they test products, provide the CE certification and are able to offer the kite mark as an indication of additional safety assurance.
The British Toy and Hobby association operate the
Lion mark programme which, along the same lines as the Kite mark offers additional reassurances for quality and safety, the BTHA provides this consumer marking option for their own toy maufacturing members.
