Hi, if you're in England this quote from the cypop 7 unit will help, where in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland relate your framework in similar ways ..
Quote:
How creativity and creative learning can support young children’s emotional, social, intellectual, communication and physical development
The 2008 EYFS ensures that creativity and critical thinking are developed through play- based learning across the curriculum, and that children learn in an environment encouraging exploration and active and playful learning. It reflects the perspective that play offers significant benefits for children’s cognitive,emotional, social and physical development and is central to creativity. (Craft, 2010; p. 30)
The EYFS is made up of six areas: personal, socialand emotional development; communication,language and literacy; problem- solving, reasoning and numeracy; knowledge and understanding of the world; physical development; creative development.
None of these areas of learning and developmentcan be delivered in isolation from the others. They are all equally important and depend on each other to support a rounded approach to child development. All the areas must be delivered through planned, purposeful play, with a balance of child - initiated and adult - directed activities;
for example:
● personal, social and emotional development: selecting and using activities and resources independently,
e.g. taking turns and sharing equipment during imaginative play
● communication, language and literacy: enjoying listening to and using spoken and written language, and readily turning to it in their playand learning,
e.g. talking about what they are painting or drawing with an adult or another child
● problem- solving, reasoning and numeracy: using developing mathematical ideas and methods to solve practical problems,
e.g. learning new concepts such as full and empty, light and heavy, during sand and/or water play
● knowledge and understanding of the world: investigating objects and materials by using all senses as appropriate,
e.g. exploring the different properties of materials, such as differences between wet sand (which can be shaped to build things) and dry sand (which can be poured)
● physical development: handling tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control,
e.g. developing dexterity and hand–eye co- ordination during creative activities such as painting, drawing, model-making and woodwork
● creative development: expressing and communicating their ideas, thoughts and feelings by using a widening range of materials, suitable tools, imaginative and role- play, movement, designing and making, and a variety of songs and musical instruments. Creative activities such as painting, drawing and model- making help to stimulate aesthetic awareness and appreciation of colour, shape, patterns, relationships and composition.

Please see most the current EYs framework for England which is now the 2012 EYFS and contains 7 areas of learning instead of the 2008 version which detailed 6 areas
