Hi

Article 16, of the UNCRC - united nations convention on the rights of the child, relates to the child and 40 to the systems that exist for children, that they may or maynot come into contact with.

Article 8 of the European convention for human rights

Data protection act 1998
Freedom of information act 2000 ensures a right of access to information.

Privacy and electronic communications regulation 2003 puts a need in place to request permission before sending out any marketing materials via email/phone - information from York.ac.uk

privacy definition

Aside to this, COPPA is a US enforced law that's the reason why many interactive, social, message type websites have a 13 & over policy for registering members/users, this ensures that no child's personal data is collected before parental consent is received.
