Default Help with Inclusion project K3p245 K3P247

1. The attitudes and behaviour of practitioners, children and parents demonstrate how remarkable it is that disabled children are a wide cross-section of the local community using the setting.

Does any one know how to answer how this is done in your setting can any one please help.
Thanks
Vanessa

Information that needs to be collected, monitored and recorded:-

Setting’s catchment area characteristics should include ethnic mix, age profile, social class, rural / urban mix. This information is readily available from the Office for National Statistics at ward and postcode level.
Statistics on the geographical spread of children who attend.
Number of children registered with disabilities.
Number of lone parents.
This information can to a useful tool to focus on where action is needed to help make the children attending more representative of those in the locality. All information recorded must be stored under the data protection act with the remit that anyone can request to see information that is held about themselves.

Our school is bound as a public body to ensure equal rights for all children, staff and the schools community. The requirements for equal opportunities are underpinned by law within the Human Rights Act 1989 and UN conventions on the rights of the child that outlaw discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability and age.

Our school’s aims:

That no member of the school community, children, staff, family, parent or governor is discriminated against.
To promote and provide inclusive practice for all children and their families.
To promote anti-discriminatory practice through direct teaching in the curriculum and through monitoring and checks.
All children should receive equal access to the national curriculum.
Senior staff are responsible for monitoring equal access and inclusion via children’s progress and attainment.
No child shall be discriminated against on the grounds of gender, race, backgrounds, religion, disability or special educational needs.
The curriculum will support anti-discriminatory practices through direct teaching in Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship education.
Recruitment will follow equal opportunities guidelines.
The school will actively work to overcome barriers to inclusion and monitor effectiveness.
Continued professional development will be made accessible to all staff regardless of race, gender, disability and age.
Any breaches of our inclusion and anti-discrimination policy should be reported in the first instance to the head teacher who will be responsible for carrying out a full investigation. The investigation must be recorded and further actions taken if deemed necessary. The importance of monitoring provision and the need for accountability to children, parents, families and other agencies is that the parents and children need to feel safe and secure within the setting. Parents need to be assured that the welfare requirements and needs of their child are being met.
