A nice factual book is 'Snack Time' by Jenni Clarke (Featherstone Education ltd)- key issues on Diet and Nutrition. It's not too 'heavy' and is all about establishling healthy eating for life through snack time in the early years.

As well as facts on healthy eating etc it has snack activities and ideas throughout the book.

Story books with food - Handa's Surprise, The Hungry Caterpillar.
