You may find it easier to think of how people (or children in a setting) may be discriminated against?
So write some ideas down such as looking different:

wearing glasses
red hair (or orange as young children often call it)
different colour skin
different language
disability i.e. in a wheelchair, deaf, visually impaired
large/small/tall
special needs child
.....and anything else you can think of

So if you decide to look at possible discrimination from children towards other children - how could you display this?

Could you show children playing ring games etc on one side of a poster with a lone child on the other side with a caption something along the line of '....this child feels sad because s/he has not been asked to join in ...'

You could make a display showing children dancing and no provision made for a child in a wheelchair watching.

I think I would try and keep the display 'light' in all senses, visually attractive and simple for the message to get across to children.
If you make this poster display with textures etc and place it at child height it will give you the option to ask and discuss with the children why they think the lone child is sad and unhappy.

I hope this helps you get started.

Hi, how about 'friends as a display focus - include a range of hair, skin colourings, mobility aids and sensory aids - glasses/hearing aids. All kinds of people is a nice read - from amazon.

People are discriminated against for their living arrangements. Maybe a display for 'Homes' would be good? Igloo, hut, houseboat, caravan, trailer, brick house, tent, flat, bungalow.

Nationalities spark discrimination - maybe a display that looks at 'Around the world and languages. and also ability, which could be used as a title to look at how it's fun being different' - likes, dislikes, height, preferences, skills .. eg: xx makes beautiful paper designs, xx climbs up and down the outside slide with great confidence, xx likes cutting paper and xx enjoys digging in sand and soil ..

Diets, lifestyles, culture: vegetarianism, vegans, allergy sufferers, travellers, relationships.

Helping out - could show how we all have the potential to assist others. Ask for help ourselves and offer it to others.

Best wishes
xx
