keep goin blank! need help feel like im repeating myself

its related to unit 203 K2D44

ive had to explain how a childs background, health and or environment can affect a childs development.

ive had to give 8 examples : ive put poverty, disability/sen, neglect, immigration, esol, race, stability - so i need one more!!

then the 2nd part i have to write for each of the above categories how it affects 0-3, 3-7, 7-12 and 12-16. and i keep feeling like im repeating myself and that im rabbling onto the child itself rather than the development.

Thansk for all previous help and is it possible anyone can help with this or at least somewhere i can find articles or anything my book is no help, im not expecting answers just a few pointers to get my brain working again lol thanks!

It sounds like a 'big and detailed' question and you may have lots already. How about looking at it differently say you decide to look at poverty and then put the age groups down and see how poverty affects each age group - so for

0-3 - it may affect that child not going to a playgroup/pre-school until there is funding. Illness/asthma due to damp housing, no outdoor play. No socialising.

3-7 - attending now - but could affect them going on school trips, dressed inadequately - no winter coat, shoes that fit, diet, exercise? lack of social skills.

7-12 - growth - may be too big or undernourished because of diet,
little support (schoolwork) as the child's parents may be in this poor bracket if they are uneduated , child may be falling behind or progress slow/stilted because of poverty. Agressive behaviour - doesn't mix well having to toughen up or use certain survival strategies. Neglect - unkempt, always ill or got nits/worms etc.

12-16 school progress still poor, health poor - overweight/underweight, social standing -lack of fashion/assessories that other teenagers usually have - friends? behaviour due to poor school progress - bully, clown or withdrawn, truanting from school. Trouble with the authorities i.e. council police etc

This is just a tiny snapshot and I haven't written it down but they may be emotional problems at every stage - well just think of PSE and poverty will affect each area for each child - good or bad.

You may have thought of all these and more, but I wondered if taking the subject and then going throught the ages may help you. I've put 'may' so it is not seen as stereotying/judgemental.

Key influences on childrens development-
Health
Diet
Opportunities vor play, stimulation and exercise
Discrimination
Family circumstances
Parents and other adults
Faulty genetic information
Pregnancy i.e smoking, drugs, alcohol, maternal infections - Rubella
Premature birth/ complicated birth i.e not breathing straight away or injury during birth.

Health can affect childrens development by; children who feel unwell or have ongoing medical conditions may not feel like playing or their condition may restrict what they can do, this means they miss out on the benefits of physical play on development or thye may find it harder to make friends because they miss sessions or cannot join in physically, meaning their social development suffers.
etc.

Hope this helps
