Smile Let's Tap - A nintendo wii console game

This is an excellent game, and is highly inclusive.

Affiliated amazon link - Let's Tap

Great for parents & stakeholders areas: receptions and waiting rooms .. the opportunities to engage 'in passing with this game are many.

In Preschool, nursery & early years settings as part of an ict policy, language & communication programme, involvement, inclusion and participation activities. I have no experience to base a suggestion on & would love to know how the game is enjoyed in settings who have activities & resources for hearing impairement in place. If anyone has views, thoughts and opinion please feel free to add on to the thread xx.

Hotel reception areas & possibly for anyone promoting learning & development resources.

On introduction and once the console's remote controller has been placed on an impact absorbing box: branded let's tap boxes can be purchased as part of a set or use what's recommended as a surface - a tissue box it shows how to navigate menus using a one or/and two tap selection process.

For the children this a perfect introduction to how the internet & a computer's navigational system works.

The resource's recommended age is 3+.

With assistance children much younger can use the game and take part in cause and effect - ie tap/hit and see what it means for the/an associated item on the screen.

The game's Visualiser choices are excellent for this.
  • Add paint splodges, streaks and strokes to the screen with each tap.
  • Bounce gems at a range of heights in relation to the tap strength.
  • Set off fireworks in sky explosions.
For Children 3+ the game helps to show how it's possible to control force - light, medium & firm. There is also a setting in the game options that alows you to adjust the remote control's response to tapping strength.

After school clubs and for children between 7 - 12 use the tap running & hurdle races, platform game & a great dance mat style rhythm tapping game.

Secure the remote controller to the box with the help of the silicon jacket - prevents it moving around in response to the tapping!

Where a wii isn't available in the setting there are some great games to be played that mirror the activities on this game, minus the ict element.
  • Stretch a piece of fabric over a large lid and pull until the surface is taut. Scrunch up some paper balls and place in the centre. Tap the fabric with varying degrees of strength to move them around and make them jump.
  • Rhythm and count - Tap your fingers 123, now tap a tune and say 'can you copy me..
Enjoy the game & all tapping activities
