you must of had a very good tutor as i put int 4hours a night and are constantly looking for ways to meet the criteria within work and have only just managed to get 401 passed off. My tutor stated that every 12 weeks something would have to be submitted for external verification

Well done to you but please dont boast as the rest of us are banging are heads against a brick wall
i wasnt boasting i know how hard it is!!!!!!!!!wanted to throw the towel in myself!!I was lucky to cover lots with my assessor through being involved with observations, staff and other agency meetings as well as introducing parents into pre-school. I found the handbook gave me the ideas to put into writing somethings you do on a daily basis without thinking about it. I did sit for hours night after night the same as everone else so not trying to make you feel bad only trying to say you can do it!!!keep it up, it will be worth it in the end and you will also want to tell others how it makes you feel to complete!!!!!!

no probs debs perhaps i was a bit harsh but so stuck on the questions in unit 401 as everything else in that unit is complete so its worse as i know thats all ive got to do and i know this will help boast my moral at the moment , jsut so tired no hols left and feeling sorry for myself, didnt mean to take it out on you . Could i pick your brains on K4P748 the meaning of anitdiscriminatory practice did you link this with 402 first question as i have taken about what both antidiscriminatoryand inclusive practice mean and how it is fundamental to the principles of the Foundation Phase (which is what i have to implement ) and then gone onto legalistaltion that protects children with regard to discrimination and how i implement these acts and what is in place to avoid discriminatory practice and how i try to ensure other staff operate in a anti discriminatory/anti bias approach. seem to have done loads so far and my assessor said it was only half a page answer for each question

Many thanks -

anti-discriminatory - doesn't need to be too long if your assessor has said half a page. Perhaps you only need to talk about legislation briefly. She will want to see how you are actually practising it.

You just need to put it across that you follow national regulations and your settings policy and procedures (and possibly have a photo copy of them). You ensure when recruiting that applicants are informed that you will not tolerate discriminatory behaviour towards children and their families; that your setting includes every child and their family. Staff are also given training so they can understand more and reinforce the practise of including everyone equally and act non-bias.

How do you follow this at your setting?

By welcoming everyone, accepting them for who and what they are, by including them in everything and also by including yourself and the setting in everything. You encoruage children and their families to celebrate their culture and festivals/celebrations with you. You treat children and their families, with respect, you value them and you include them.

You may then want to add an example of how you and your setting does this?
Children and their families may come in so give a demonstration or talk, they may lend (or give) you objects and resources for a festival.

You could also briefly say that you celebrate something such as Chinese New Year, American Independence Day etc and say briefly what and how you do this.

I hope this helps a little.

hi there twiggy

hope this helps you a little more

This is what I've wrote and I've had it signes off so hopefully it should be ok for you too.

www.wikipedia.org/wiki/teammanagement

“Team management refers to techniques, processes and tools for organising and co-ordinating a group of individuals working towards a common goal”

It’s important that each team member understands and supports the roles and responsibilities of others in order to work together as a team and effectively with others to enhance the settings provisions for the children. It also ensures a well run organisation and consistency of care within the setting. To help build positive relationships with colleagues its important to identify responsibilities and communicate with each other. Each team member will also know who to go to to discuss relevant issues.

Effective teamwork will also ensure each team member will know and understand their own roles and duties and carry out their job effectively. This would ensure their responsibilities wouldn’t fall to another member of staff to finish off someone else’s job as well as their own, this would ensure everything runs smoothly and not cause any friction between team members.

Making team work happen-
• Setting objectives- These are important to the success of the setting and staff. Good objectives could be-1) A measurable statement of intention over a period of time. 2) It has to be achievable. 3) Recorded. 4) Communicated.
• Clearly communicate goals-by clearly laying out goals everyone begins in the same place and understands where the goals are
• Define responsibilities-the operation of a child care settin is not a job for one person it relies upon everyone working together and ensure that everyone knows what exactly is expected of them
• Motivation-getting the best from your team, each member will feel a sense of personal achievement and feel valued
• Staff development-everyone has the potential to improve and it’s important to work towards continuous improvement of their own performance
• Build relationships-relaxing and socialising outside the work environment can improve working relationships
Provide feedback-be clear in expectations and opinions of work. Encourage, thank, praise and review what went right and what went wrong.
