Hi, you need to ask your setting for a copy of their health and safety policy. It will have all the policy procedures that you perform every day/month in the setting.

If it helps, pages 108 and 109 of this EYE handbook explain:

How legislation and guidelines inform day-to-day work
There are many ways ion which legislation and guidelines affect what happens in early years settings, see if you recognise examples from your work placement:

Health and safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
  • First aid boxes are provided
EYFS Safeguarding and welfare requirements:
  • There are always first aiderspresent with a current or up-to-date paediatric first aid qualification.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • Staff are trianed in how to life childrem, and equipment, such as sand trays which will be on wheels.
The Repoting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR)
  • Accidents, incidents and emergencies are recorded in a staff handbook.
EYFS Safeguarding and welfare requirements:
  • Accidents, incidents and emergencies are recorded and parents are informaed as soon as possible afterwards.
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)
  • Cleaning materials are kept in locked cupboards.
  • Disposable gloves and aprons are provided for cleaning.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Fire exits are kept clear and are clearly marked.
EYFS Safeguarding and welfare requirements:
  • There are regular fire practices.
THe Food Hygiene (England) regulations 2006
  • Fridges and freezers are kept at correct temperature and are checked weekly.
  • Separate placews for cooked and uncooked foods to be stored in fridge.
  • Kitchen is kept clean.
EYFS Safeguarding and welfare requirements:
  • Staff are trained in food handling.
Childcare Act 2006/EYFS Safeguarding and Welfare requirements
Staff-child ratios: bank staff or the manager will step in where required in the case staff absence to ensure ratios are maintained.
No smoking policy: no smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises
Visitors: visitors are sasked to sign in and to identify themselves
Safety of children at end of seesion: staff check that children go home with parents or named people.

Hope this helps xx
