Hi,

Quote from page 169 Learning Disabilities Care - A Care Worker Handbook search in the preview for 'consistent'

Describe ways of ensuring that support provided is consistent, both within own approach and with that of others
For most individuals with autistic spectrum conditions the world is a confusing, chaotic and unpredictable place. In order to feel safe they need those who support them to be as consistent as possible. Consistency should be aimed for both within one's own approach and across different people's approaches, and should include the following areas:

1. communication
2. support routines and structures
3. expectations of the individual which are realistic and achievable whilst stretching and supporting them towards their maximum potential.
4. responding to challenging or inappropriate behaviour.

and on page 173: Be aware of aspects of your non verbal communication that the that the individual with an autistic spectrum condition might find difficult. For example. do not stand close to, touch or speak loudly to the person unless you know these are things they are happy with.

Hope this helps a little
