SOS how to develop policies and procedures that reflects childrens rights.

i have nearly finished but i am really stuck on i have no idea where to start

312 Task B Induction Manual - Produce a section of an induction manual for staff members on how to develop policies and procedures that reflects childrens rights.

I must explain how to develop the policies and procedures for a play environment to cover
play and social activities
health and safety
anti-discriminatory practice
child protection and bullying
responding to behaviour
how to ensure that policies and procedures are put into practice
the importance of reviewing policies and procedures

anything would be really helpful thanks

Hi a warm welcome to the site.

SKAPW65 (A2) Develop and review policies and procedures to ensure they meet needs and protect the rights of children and young people

Developing any policy and its procedures involves knowing what information the existing ones contain and then being aware of the potential updates that might impact on them.

How are your setting's policies and procedures put into practice? are they reviewed frequently/annually to make sure they continue to meet regulations? How is that done?

Consider where & from whom you gather or receive information regarding play and social activities, health and safety, anti-discriminatory practice, child protection and bullying eg Local Authority, HSE, National organisations and charities (NSPCC, NCB, Play England, Skills Active, Citizen's Advice Bureau, ) and your knowledge of child development so that responses to behaviour are appropriate.

Understanding of the UNCRC and playwork principles ensure the policies reflect children's rights.

Page 117 of this handbook
looks at a behaviour policy in a playwork setting - search the preview for 'develop policies'

I hope this helps a little

I thin I would be encouraging the young people in all changes to policy.

Participation groups
Children in care councils
Group meetings
Engage family
