Default Ey2

Hi Kathie,
Early years settings that are registered with Ofsted need to met the requirements of the EYFS which includes submitting to checks by Ofsted on the suitability of the registered provider. Ofsted only do the Enhanced Discolosures now on Management so in the case of a voluntary run pre school that would be the committee members (trustees) and the manager of the setting. You should have filled out a declaration and consent form (EY2) which if you are having an SPI you must already have done. This form asks for a self declaration of criminal records and other matters that determine suitability to work with or be in contact with children. You then send that form off to Ofsted who will liaise with the Criminal Records Bureau to carry out the relevant checks.

After completing the checks the CRBureau will send you a copy of the Enhanced Disclosure and Ofsted will also receive a copy.

Whenever there is a change to the individuals on the management committee or the manager of the setting you will also need to fill out a notification form (EY3) which informs Ofsted that there has been a change to the registered person or provider.
Hope that helps Kathie
Take care
Bev

It is also worth noting that ordinary staff and volunteers also have to have an Enhanced check but these are not carried out by Ofsted. Umberella bodies of which there are many carry thse checks out.
