err booklet

any help what so ever would be greatly appreciated. i am doing the err booklet and one of the questions is explain agreed ways of working with your employer, then they have given me a list of things like data protection, grievance procedures, and conflict management. I don't even understand the question let alone answer it. many thanks to any one who can shed some light on this for me.

Hi, take a read through this: The ERR workplace book for Early years from Skills for Justice.

It's dated 2004 so some information has changed - minimum wage, the equality act 2010 has replaced The Sex Discrimination Act (1975), The Race Relations Act (1976), Amendments (2000) and Regulations (2003), The Disability Discrimination Act (1995) and the care standards were superseded by England's EYFS in 2008/2012

Places that will help you research further are
Direct.gov.uk - work time directive
HSE - COSHH, RIDDOR, Health and Safety at work

Agreed ways of working are 'performance, knowledge & understandings' that you and your employer have both agreed to and maybe signed if you have a job contract in order for you to work together positively, fairly, with equality.

The induction standards from disbanded CWDC
Inductee tips - VAK learning styles

This is from the ERR Lv2 award unit on skillsactive

2. Understand agreed ways of working that protect own relationship with employer
2.1 Describe the terms and conditions of own contract of employment
This sets out agreed ways of working professionally, independantly and as part of a team - Formal relationship, one that is formed on the agreement of terms.
2.2 Describe the information shown on own pay statement
this ensures you're aware of your pay and deductions, tax, NI contributions, minimum wage, any scale that the setting has in place
2.3 Describe the procedures to follow in event of a grievance
The setting may have a procedure for managing times of conflict, implement disciplinary procedures, complaints and grievances in order for you to see how this is an agreed way to work using anti-discriminatory, fair practice.
2.4 Identify the personal information that must be kept up to date with own employer. Data protection act, confidentiality
2.5 Explain agreed ways of working with employer
Health and safety - carrying out risk assessments, reporting/managing risk

Another unit, from OCR also provides information

I hope this helps, best wishes xx
