Default Developing Professional Relationships

Why want the the words flow?

Can anyone help on these questions please. This unit will be finished then.

1) How do I demonstration ways of helping children and young people to understand the value and importance of positive relationships with others?

2) How do I demonstrate ways of encouraging and supporting children and young people to deal with conflict for themselves.

3) How do I use appropriate strategies for encouraging and supporting children and young people to understand and respect other people's a) individuality, diversity and differences b) feelings and points of view

I know I probably do this naturally everyday in class but help would be appreciated please. Thank you

Hi, welcome to the site.

Being a 'demonstrate' criteria this is something your assessor may expect to observe you doing on their next visit to your workplace?

This free chapter is good reading CYP 3.5 positive relationships

Page 153 of the CYPW hanbook is also suppotive reading
  • recognisingand responding appropriately to the power base underpinning relationshiops (search inside the book for the words 'power base' & click to page 153)
  • communicating effectively
  • identifying and sorting out conflcts and disagreements
  • showing respects and courtes
  • valuing and respecting individuality
  • being consistent and fair
  • keeping confidentislity as appropriate
  • monitoring impact of own behaviour on others
  • keeping promises and honouring commitments

If you're studying the Support Teaaching and Learning course? page 3 of this STL hanbook looks at the principles of positive relaionships which may help you identfy what you do in your setting ..
  • effective communication
  • showing respect
  • being considerate
  • remembering issues which are personal to a child
  • taking time to listen to others
  • being clear on key points
  • maintaining a sense of humour
Page 4.
  • finding opportunities to speak
  • make eye contact and active litening
  • use body language and facial expressions and be approachable
  • react and comment on what a chil/children are saying
  • be interested, responding and questioning to maintain conversation
The age of the child and young person eg. how you adapt the words you say, the level of supervision, comfort and reassurance you give.

Hope this helps a little xx
