How long should assignments be?

I'm doing my level 3 award through open college and am struggling to get an answer as to how long my homework assignments need to be. I have written 35 pages for homework 2 assignment regarding developmental stages, which I'm sure is too much. Did anyone get an answer as to how long (how many words/pages) each assignment should be? Or even how long each unit should be (there are 2 units in level 3 award) and then I can break it down per homework assignment?
