Hi,
The law that cover the recording and sharing of information is the Data Protection Act 1998
If the records are not accurate to the event, this information cannot be used as it is irrelevant to the situation and as the information may be wrong it can lead to the wrong support being given. Think about referrals, such as using the common assessment framework (CAF) if information that is written down is wrong, it could be seen as biased or against the child/family. Also if the records are wrong it could also mean the permission/consent of the parents have not been sought out, therefore we are unlawfully using and passing on information and breaking the data protection act.
Hope this helps
