Default Cypop 17 4.1

4.1 Research the policy and guidance impacting on support services at a national level, and evaluate how this operates at a local level

I just want to make sure I'm on the right track with this question, after days of reading policies and articles I think my brain is going to melt

For this question I thought I would look at Early Intervention Grants.

I outlined the idea behind the grants (the disadvantage of losing funds by replacing the centrally directed grants, the advantages of having more flexibility in where the money goes) and the services the grants were intended for (sure start, free early education places etc.) which was found here and here, as well as mentioning the predicted figures for the funding each year (£291m 2012-13, £534m 2013-14, £760m 2014-15).

I then talked about the cuts announced for 2013-14 (£150m from the top slice each year) and the moving of funds from this grant into the ring fenced Dedicated Schools Grant and how this will affect how the local authorities can allocate their budget.

I found a few articles on the cuts such as this, this and this but nothing from the government itself; I'm not sure how reliable those sources are.

I hope I'm on the right track, I will take any hints or criticisms I can get
