Hi,
There are lots of books on gender and learning - look at Amazon.
These books may help with you with your assignment:

The following 2 books deal with young children and may be more suitable for your assignment:

Boys & Girls (Superheroes in the Doll Corner) Vivian Gussin Paley

We Don't Play with Guns here: War, Weapon and Superhero Play in the Early Years Penny Holland

..but others to look at are:

The following book looks at differences from birth to adulthood including female & male brains, risk, aggression, discipline etc

Why Gender matters (What parents and teachers need to know about the emerging science of *** differences) Leonard Sax

The following book although looking at why brains are different and how brain-based differences affect boys and girls, I feel it is more for school rather than early years.- but interesting never the less.

Boys and Girls Learn Differently! Michael Gurian

google books is always good to use, if you set up an account you can save books to your library, and they often give examples of similar books. although you can't preview all books and often can't preview all the pages it helps decide whether a book is worth buying.
