-Visits to the new room, to the setting with the parents/carers before child is left on their own.
-Photo boards and visual displays of the new room or book for parents to take home to make the new surroundings seem familiar.
-New teacher come in and play with the children so that a relationship begins.
-Ensure you know about child’s background, toys they like etc so you can have out appropriate equipment on their first day.
-Don’t rush the separation process-some children may need extra visits, shorter session times that increase over time etc.
