Default NVQ2 student

I have an NVQ2 student starting this term, a 17 year old, and I'd like to help her along a bit, naturally.

Can anyone give me some ideas about things I can be encouraging her with, or things she has to do?

You can actually look up everything she will have to cover on the National Standards website. Does she have a copy of the EYFS of her own to look at whenever she needs. Is she familiar with ALL your policies. If she having to do Key Skills will she need practice or help and guidance with that? Perhaps she could get a copy of Penny Tassonis CCLD Level Three book. It was my bible lol when I did the course. And of course tell her about this site lol. I recieved no help or support at all with either my Level Two or Three from my work place so its great to see that you want to help her.

Thanks for that about the standards website. I wondered where it might all be! Yes, she's got EYFS, policies, staff handbook, and I bought her that book last year.

I can't find the units anywhere - done a Google search and they're not showing anywhere - could you post a link please?

How great, aside from the cwdc's induction materials all I can add is support, support, support. My daughter is interested in pursuing a childcare career and there isn't anything more disheartening than reading about younger students or employees being criticised by colleagues for instances they've had little experience to base practice on.

Do you have any chart like resources that could be displayed for development stages & milestones - quick reference examples that help explain & assist understanding of children's actions & responses?

I really like the storybook Kids & other series titles by Catherine and Laurence Anholt, great all weather type resources

Very interested to hear if you find ideas that help with student's workplace transitions & their confidence to take part.

The nvq 2 units can be accessed through this thread - NVQ level 2 CCLD

Thanks Ruth - I found that one last night - hopefully it's the same as the units she's doing! I'm going to go through the NVQ2 threads and make some notes on what people have had problems with, and the various responses

Is she definitely doing an NVQ?
The new qualifications are starting now.

Yes, she actually started it at Easter, but hasn't had any support with it at all
