Default resource or piece of equipment that encourages children to explore and investigate?

hiya
im a bit stuck on this question

describe one rescource or type of equipment encourages children to explore and investigate.

give a description od how it might be used,risk,challenge,health and safety.and write about how you used it to encourage children to explore and investigate,

Ive thought i could do a float or sink activity with preschoolers butim not sure what to write!any pointers appreciated!thanks!!

Another one you could try would be to get some toy bugs and bits of wood and a magnifying glass, as well as some picture cards so they can match the bugs to the cards. The preschool age, any age from 1-5 enjoy this idea, and will scour the nursery where I am for more things like that. There isn't really much of a risk to it so health and safety isn't a real problem.

Default Explore/investigate

I am using a compost bin as a resource - still work in progress but happy to add more info if this interests you?

Learn recycling process/lifestyle - how we deal with waste.
Sights/smells of natural world.
Allow time to explore textures/smells/patterns of veg/fruit peelings...

Lots of H&S aspects to consider!

Outdoor clothes required.... etc etc...
