B F Skinner – experimented on dogs who were conditioned to salivate on hearing a bell, because it was rung each time they were fed, Skinner called this operant conditioning and he proposed children’s behaviour is reinforced by adult reactions to behaviour eg praise for behaviour we like, to encourage the child to behave well. positive reinforcement. if a child behaves in a way we dont like we give negative reinforcement eg explain why and discourage child from the behaviour.
Albert Bandura says punishments’ do not work as well as reinforcements, he suggests children need to pay attention, retain what they see, reproduce the actual behaviour, be motivated to do so and then be rewarded-positive reinforcement. eg star charts etc
Albert Bandura suggested the environment provided causes ones behaviour and that the person’s behaviour can effect the environment. adults need to be good role models.
I linked in behaviour policy and how we manage behaviour in our setting.
hope thats helpful thats along the lines of what i put.
