Default Any Ideas?? Unit 402 K4D1116 The negative effects of inequalities

Plodding on with 402 - but hit a bit of a block (could be due to the time of night!!)
I wondered if anyone could help me with;
K4D1116
The negative effects of inequalities on all children: this must include the negative effects on children who are not themselves directly experiencing inequality
I would be very grateful
Thank you

It is late .. cocoa mug's washed & put away lol. Off the top of my head this reminds me of a very good friend some time ago - He asked his mum how he could write an essay on racial descrimination when he had no experience of it himself.

Whilst he was lucky enough to of had his mum tell him stories of events & happenings surrounding mixed family race .. this was only because of having previously lived in a more muliticultural diverse city - knowing his mum, the tales I'm sure would of made him much more aware of life in general & for use in the future

The hurt & realisation to Children and adults who through inequality & discrimination suddenly realise they have different attributes and skills to others must be crushing.

Inequality is unfairness whether that's to the minority or majority it can still knock you for six when you realise something you wanted to do / have access to isn't allowed .. even if those authorising the restriction think it's for the good !
Will check out some links tomorrow/today .. have a good night

Support policies, procedures and practice to safeguard children and ensure their inclusion and well-being

For the children not experiencing inequality maybe you could look at what practices you have in place that help monitor and reflect on the effects your polices and procedures have ?

Hypothetically, for those not experiencing inequality:
A group of Children attend a Preschool that has the most inclusive policies in working practice ...
What has the potential to happen, emotionally & physically if they transfer to another setting still in the process of improving provision ?

These links may help - I haven't as yet managed to find a bullet point list of the negative effects inequality has
Wirral PCT equality impact assessment -This is the more positive side of equality policy making
Children learn about Social and Health inequalities through everyday experiences - from ESRC society today - dated release - current research may be available.
Joseph Rowntree foundation for research has a search facility which returns a few results for 'inequality children'

tbh .. most fair and reasonable practices will have a certain amount of inequality in them for safeguarding reasons - the inclusive element is in how we explain the reasons to the children and how we allow their feedback & feelings of discrimation to effect/inform & improve the policies in action.

eg: why a kettle is put out of reach .. - possibly, to protect from burns.

However with supervision the kettle may be placed in a more accessible position to demonstate its role, use & function !
What would the negative effect on the children be if they were refused access to the kettle full stop ?

2 You tube video from the states .. both have pretty deep thoughts behind them ..
Mr Ted Walker from Rosewood elementary school South Carolina & A statment / question from florida

If anyone has done this unit or has more ideas .. please post ...

I'm struggling on this one too - that's how I found this site!

Talking it over with a friend / colleague - and we were saying about how it will lead to a cycle of behaviour being repeated too, as those watching others not being treated equally may think it's ok, and will go on to do that also. My friend said that those being treated unequally could be cited into doing something to those who are not stopping it or changing the cycle.

Hi Sally 23

For this question i referred to -The effects of negative inequalities see Question K4P782 (which is in the same unit)
Through allowing children to observe aspects of inequality we are introducing the children to criminal behavior.

It was passed by my assessor if you have answered question K4P782 you should have covered it. Hope this helps
