Hi can anyone shed any light on this question How family beliefs, attitudes and values may affect behaviour, self-reliance and identity feeling a bit stuck:idea:

Families attitudes to behaviour and values vary enormously - what is seen by some parents as acceptable certainly isn't acceptable in Preschool - I'm sure you've come across this yourself, so that bit is easy. You can give some 'for instance' for that.
Beliefs is slightly trickier, the only one I can think about is for identity; Jehovah's Witnesses I understand don't celebrate the 'individual' so children don't celebrate birthdays and this can cause some problems in settings.
Attitudes to self reliance can be that children don't believe that they can do something, simply because they are never allowed to do it - taking shoes on and off, coat on, writing name etc are all things we see on a regular basis.

Thanks possum that all makes more sense now,i thought this unit would be easier but i am having a brain block.too much time off i think:idea:
