hi
does anyone know if a child's communication skills can be assessed at the same time as them carrying out a physical activity eg on obstacle course?
many thanks

yes if the child is encouraged to talk about what the are doing, how high they are climbing, how fast they can run etc if the children are talking then yes an observation can include communication .

hi
many thanks.
My assessor is coming in on monday and wants to watch me observing a child's communication skills and also plan and implement a physical activity.
I was thinking of linking the 2 together but am unsure whether or not I can supervise the obstacle course at the same time as carrying out the observation?
Thanks again for your help

Hi sue,
i was observed doing a physical activity with a group of children, once the activity was over i sat down with the children and asked them what they liked and disliked about the activity so i could plan a follow on activity taking into consideration what the children liked/disliked and how i could make it better next time this allowed the children to not only communicate with me but share their thoughts and ideas with their peers x
