I have a question Key person attachment, child overly attached?

Has anyone experienced a child becoming too attached to their key person? To the point where that child will not leave that key person and take part in activities without that person?
If so, any advice on what to do!?
Thank you

Hi, maybe look at this in a way that it isn't the attachment the child has to their key-person that's the issue but rather the lack of, or fewer secure relationships that the child has with other adults and children in the setting?

If you were to consider fostering a friendship between this child and another, who would that other child be, why do you feel that would be beneficial to them both and what type of activities would you try to bring them together over? (I don't mean for you to answer that here :) xx

Best wishes

so for today, is it possible the child can leave the room with their key person? and for tomorrow maybe look at repeating whatever happened to create this strong bond between the two, so that gradually the child feels comfortable transitioning to another adult when their KP needs to leave?

It could be useful to look into buddying, and the support that the KP has from their colleagues eg. who steps in to take over when they need to leave/prepare food/toilet?
