Self identity

At the centre of the development of children’s emotions is the formation of their self identity (Cowen1997)
Young children’s self identity is influenced by what happens around them, how they build an image of themselves, from the way others treat them, how we think about ourselves has a direct link to how we learn.

Erikson (1950) psychosocial theory he said
the way we respond to children had a very long lasting effect on their image negative effects on self identity can be carried on into adult hood and effect the ability to form relationships and learn well.
