what you need to ask yourself is what do you learn about the children from conducting observations?

So... you learn about their strengths and weaknesses and their interests/fasinations. This means you can plan for a childs next steps according to their interests and where they need support. You would implement this is your planning eg a child loves playing with cars but struggles with counting, so a practitioner could plan an activity using cars that encourages a child to count and sort. This means the child is given a positive experience whilst promoting their development. Hope thats some help, its just a brief outline for you.
