Help SOS NVQ3 unit 028 outcome 1.1

Explain why positive relationships with children and young people are important and how these are built and maintained.
Can anyone help me please, managed to answer why the relationships are important but cant get my head around how to build and maintain them

when you have made a relationship with a child do you then ignore them? not talk to them not observe or create plans for them? do you listen to them ask questions?
