Explain how to support children and young people according to their age, needs and abilities to make personal choices an

I am having a real mind block with this one, please can anybody help me?

Explain how to support children and young people according to their age, needs and abilities to make personal choices and experiences that have a positive impact on their lives.

I have written a paragraph on why we need to support children to make personal choices but I am not sure how to break the rest down, into what age groups & what sort of examples I should include.

Help please????

you could start with a young toddler and use the example of asking them at snack time apple juice milk or water , which fruit they want, what colour beaker this shows them you are respecting their choice, listening to them and helping them make decisions. As they get older we involve them by asking what rules they would like to include in our settings ( within reason )this helps them use their thinking skills and also makes them think about how others fee and are affected when we make decisions. Outside giving them the choice to make decisions whether to take safe risks such as climb the big slide is also a way of building their confidence

this is what i've wrote but haven't it checked by my assessor yet :)

You need to acknowledge and value the child or young person’s voice whenever possible in the planning process. You need to take into account the needs of the children and young people in your care. Children who learn to express their own needs also learn to consider the needs of others. They may develop skills of cooperation, negotiation and problem-solving.

If you involve the children and young people and respect their ideas and their capabilities, they grow in confidence and self-esteem. One way of involving the children and young people, is to get them to help you plan activities they would like to do or get them

You need to plan a wide range of activities to suit the children’s age, needs and abilities and give them a choice of what they can do.
