Sections on what activities can be done at home, importance of making it fun, importance of not making the activity too long, how we use math and literacy in everyday conversation.

Hi, page 221 of the EYE handbook will help you research literacy and page 239 explores how maths relates to children's everyday lives

Activities that can be done at home: consider how your setting works in partnership with parents and the different activities that are shared between the children's homes and the setting.

Importance of making it fun: use your knowledge of how children learn best when they are interested and enjoy what they're doing in a relaxed atmosphere.

Importance of not making the activity too long: use your knowledge to support the children by explaining how concentration and focus can diminishes if the activity goes on for too long and they lose interest in what's happening/going on.

How you use math and literacy in everyday conversation: think about how we talk about the language of maths - numbers, measurements, sizes, shapes, space and distances, time, patterns, matching & sorting, estimating. and literacy how reading, writing, speaking, talking and listening are part of every day.
