Help SOS Unit 304 Activity 11: Benefits Of Reflection And Cpd

Hi there guys , really struggling with this activity, its KO for k3p230 but is an activity, its a 2 page grid where you have to write the drawbacks to the scenario in the first column, then you have to state how to overcome the drawbacks, trying to put myself virtually in the situation but its not helping at all.
The 1st one for example says " Increases self esteem as you look back on achievements" you then in the next 2 columns have to write the possible drawbacks to this and then in the next column the ways to overcome this!!! Any help would be hugely appreciated, im stuck in the mud with this one!!! Thankyou in advance for any light shone onto my question xxx

You may become too self assured by looking ONLY at your achievements. This might lead to not seeing where you could improve???

Thanks Ray, theyre actually 10 different scenarios about CPD and you have to give drawbacks for each one and ways to overcome the drawbacks! Its baffling me and already seeming repetative to me too! Here are the benefits they give......
1: Increases self esteem as you look back on achievements
2: Encourages you to evaluate different ways of completing tasks and gives encouragement to think creatively.
3: Helps you feel in vontrol of your work circumstances and can help relief stress
4:Increases performance through thinking deeply about your job,the tasls you do and how you do them
5: Provides the opportunity to enrich and develop your exsisting job
6:Aids career development through planning to learn skills that will equip you to move your career in a different direction that interests you
7:Allows you to demonstrate your skills in a concrete way through written record
8: Allows you to question yourself within a safe environment
9: Can help you recognise the way in which skills learnt in other areas of your life could be applied in the workplace
10: Can help you define and make clear in your mind your achievements and progress you have made.
THEY ARE ALL THE BENEFITS, in the next 2 columns you have to write THE DRAWBACKS TO EACH OF THEM AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM :)
Heeelllllllllpppppppppppp!!!

Hi,
You've listed so many - but if they are the benefits, then the drawbacks will be the opposite and try and think how the opposite might come about.

Some of the drawbacks could be that, say
No 7 - Does someone know how to record/observe or feel confident enough to?
Or you could look at it that someone may be able to churn out the answers in an exam - but they may not be any nearer to understanding children.

Answer: Training or coaching by experienced member of staff in setting.

what about
no 8 - what if a person had worked in that environment for years and never reflected and things that may have been acceptable years ago, are no longer permitted today?
Such as child protection. I know 30 odd years ago people used to send their 'Aunty' to collect a child - would this happen today?
or that loose wires were overlooked then, but we are so much more aware now.

Answer: Regular review of policies and procedures

N0 3 Control of work circumstances and relieves stress - this depends on you work conditions, whether you feel valued or not etc . Drawbacks are who you work for and what is expected from someone and also recruiting the right person. With the wrong person - lots could go wrong.

Answer: Proper CRB checks on candidates and willingness to ongoing training,

I hope this has helped you get started.

WOW, thanks for that Heidi, theyre great ideas to look at. Really do appreciate it, isnt it funny how when you have looked over and over a block of questions you become blinkered to what it really is asking Thank you again.
