I wrote about the parents/carer being the first place to access information as they will have knowledge about the condition there child has. Looked into 2/3 different chronic illnesses - asthma - cystic fibrosis and reasearched a little of these. Child may have to see specialist nurses so wrote about contacting the nurse for further information - also internet.
Hope this helps.

Search online for chronic illnesses in children and write a little about how these conditions affect a child . Then write about how the setting can overcome them and support their development. (id suggest to give 2 examples of chronic illnesses)

If a child comes to the setting with a chronic illness, the most effective way to access further information and support certain conditions, is for practitioners to talk and discuss with the child’s parents. This is because the child’s parents will know their child’s needs/abilities and the best way to care for their child. They will also be able to provide books, information and details of specialists who are working with the child to help advise the setting.

Settings can access further information from:

libraries
the internet
local councils
social workers
portage workers
specialists such as education welfare officers.

Hope this helps luv
