Hi, which criteria of the unit are you struggling with?

Page 323 of this EYE course book looks at a variety of activities that you might recognise in your own workplace. When you think about the way your setting is laid out, how does it support children's physical development?

Quote:

The starting point for planning is thaat we consider children's stage of development and also their interests. When planninf for children's physical development, there are also other factors to consider:

Identifying the skill to be developed
Resouces
Level of adult support
Space

Activities that support (fine and gross motor skills) physical opportunities for babies and toddlers include:

For babies that aren't yet mobile - Fine motor: passing rattles and shakers for them to hold. Tresure basket with a range of objects. Water play at bath time for kicking and splashing.
Gross motor: Baby gym, stacking beakers for knocking down.

For mobile babies who aren't yet walking: Fine motor: pop up toys, self feeding activities, sensory play.
Gross motor: rolling balls, baby swing, going for short walks.

Walking toddlers:
Fine motor: including a spoon at meal times, encouraging dressing skills such as pulling off a hat, hand and sponge painting.
Gross motor: Brick trolley and objects for children to push around. Encouraging children to climb stairs.

Hope this helps a little xx
