I need to answer this question, I guess the answer is something like
Babies and young children show emotional distress in different ways, younger children and babies may just cry and need lots of reassurance, children who are a bit older may be very quiet, withdrawn or take themselves away from the rest of the group. They may be comforted and reassured through cuddles and one to one time from their key worker, being distracted through toys or activities and Communicating with the key worker to resolve the problem.
Am I on the right lines? In the real world I know how you tell a child is upset/distressed and how i would deal with it depending on the situation but this question is making me feel like im answering it wrong!
Thanks
