I was doing NVQ 2 STLS last year and did 2 full days a week in school on a voluntary basis from 8.15am-3.10pm, and a further morning a week 8.15am-1.00pm when I was not in college.

I was lucky because they offered me a year's contract as a proper employee just before I completed.

But 27 hours does seem a might excessive to me for a volunteer. Good luck with your course. xx
