Having a look at the Development Matters it is very useful for this.
We should ensure that the provision is set up to support child development, thinking of how the Characteristics of Effective Learning work within this.
Think of an area of the provision What is the intended outcome? How is it supporting child development?
We constantly evaluate the next steps for children, we look to support the engagement and learning that will help the development of the child.
As an example, there may be a child that is showing interest in stacking blocks, as practitioners we can support this by ensuring the resources are available, not just duplo type blocks but using wooden and other heuristic items that will also stack. Different size resources that will require different physical management (Larger gross motor skills) We can model and use good communication skills to support this.
